Christof Windgätter has been Professor of Media Theory at BTK - University of Art and Design since 2012.

He studied Philosophy and German Studies and completed a doctorate in Cultural Theory and History at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Between 2007 and 2009 he was a post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin and in 2009 he attended the fellowship programme of Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart in the programme »art, science & business«. Christof Windgätter was thereafter a Research Fellow at the City of Vienna, Department of Culture (science and research funding). He was a visiting lecturer at the Institute for Theatre, Film and Media Studies of the University of Vienna, a lecturer in Communication Design for Master's students at Bern University of the Arts and Visiting Professor at Leuphana – the University of Lüneburg (in the Department of the Culture and Aesthetics of Digital Media). He wrote his habilitation thesis on branding design strategies in the sciences.
