Gregor Wolff is an anthropologist of the Americas and ethnologist. He is Director of the Department Special Collections, Papers & Manuscripts, specialist for Amerindian studies, and country specialist for Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador at the Ibero-American Institute (IAI).

At the IAI Wolff is responsible for formally and scientifically indexing the posthumous papers of the German geographer Hans Steffen (1865–1936) as well as the digitisation of the Glass Plate Collection. This affords him an excellent overview of the archival inventory of the IAI and is familiar with the practical handling of digitisation as well as its forms and consequences.
