Philipp Kaspar Heimann

Philipp Kaspar Heimann studied Art History/Theory in Leipzig, Basel and Berlin. He wrote his undergraduate dissertation on the philosophy and theology of history in Werner Tübke’s work under Tanja Zimmermann’s supervision. He completed his master’s degree with a dissertation on Francis Bacon’s drawings under the supervision of Claudia Blümle while also working as a student assistant in the unit that she leads as Professor of the History and Theory of Form at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. He is currently studying ancient Greek and preparing his PhD thesis on the image and the problem of identity. His research interests include the relationship between art and philosophy, Gilles Deleuze, Martin Heidegger, painting from the 18th century onwards, visual scepticism and the critique of representation.
