Yasmin Meinicke studied History of Art and Philosophy at Freie Universität Berlin and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. She is interested in visual studies as well as contemporary art. In her Master's thesis »Vom Schnappschuss aus dem All zur Ikone der Blue Marble« (From outer space snapshot to the Blue Marble icon), she compared two photographs of the earth using a visual studies approach. She is now working on a doctorate on the subject of »Erdbilder: Die gegenseitige Einflussnahme von Erdansichten auf Weltsichten« (Images of the earth: reciprocal effects of earth views and world views), which aims to explore the technical, ideological and Gestaltung-related principles underlying such images, and to lead to an iconography of the globe. Between 2011 and 2014 she worked at the Kleine Humboldt Galerie and since February 2015, after a year as a curatorial assistant at the Heidelberger Kunstverein (Heidelberg Association of Art), she had held a doctoral scholarship for work on the project »Picture Act«.
